DMF founder Christine Firehock helps a Lost Wheels rider find his best body position

Diana Motorcycle Foundation founder Christine Firehock interviewed by MAD Maps

Diana’s Motorcycle Foundation recently visited with the Lost Wheels Motorcycle Club in Fishkill, NY to give a free riding seminar to the club’s members. Several topics were covered, including body positioning, slow cornering, precision throttle modulation, and trail braking. DMF brought up plenty of orange cones to keep the riders occupied in the big parking lot we visited. We had a great mix of riders and bikes; Harleys, Hondas, Yamahas, Suzukis, Buells, Ducatis…customs and stockers, cruisers and sportbikes, vintage and modern. Everybody got a chance to ride and try out new techniques.

Diana Moto Fund founder Christine Firehock worked with each rider to determine specific issues they were having with their personal bikes. She addressed everything from small, effective ergonomic tweaks to plain old problems like “my elbows hurt after I ride.”

Every rider got an opportunity to work one-on-one with Christine and gained valuable perspective on how to modify their bike or their riding style for their individual comfort and safety. The smiles kept on coming even as the clouds moved in later that afternoon. It was a great day with great people doing what we all love to do – riding!

At the end of the day, Christine received a special honorary lifetime membership to the Lost Wheels Motorcycle Club. Her mother Diana (who our foundation is named after) was the first female president of the club in 1981. Christine is absolutely thrilled to receive the award and patch, and is honored to have had the opportunity to spend the day with the club’s members. We were also there with our video cameras, so stick around and watch our blog for updates – we’ll have some video up soon!
